Denver is the capital city of U.S Colarado. This unique place was founded in the 1858’s as a mining town to begin with. It was during the Gold Rush phase that this piece of great land was to become something of importance to the future and also one of the biggest cities in the U.S.
Two gold prospectors from Kansas, Lawrence, who went in search came across this great land. When they arrived they settled themselves on the South Platte River, which would later become the city of Denver. The site would be abandoned and later refound by Willam Russell and St Charles City by the summer time of 1859. In 1858 though, a land speculator named General William Larimer is said to have claimed the land for himself by placing cottonwood logs around to stake his land.
It is said he later named the place Denver because the Territory Governor of Kansas was named Mr Denver. Today, there are over 600,000 people calling Denver home.
